The Mystery of Captiva
Captiva is rich in history as well as intrigue. The legend of
Captiva is told that Spanish pirate Jose Gaspar had headquarters on
Sanibel Island and made his home on Pine Island Sound. Gaspar
would capture and loot ships imprisoning the fair ladies. The
ladies of course were held on Captiva Island. Legend also holds
that scattered across Sanibel and Captiva Islands are the gold the
pirates stashed away.

here. While on Captiva, enjoy the beaches, the sunsets and

Chapel by the Sea
Built in 1901 by first settler William Binder as a school house,
Captiva's charming Chapel By The Sea is a white clapboard church
and currently serves as the site of many beautiful weddings.
Trimmed in lattice fencing, the seaside cemetery next door guards
the graves of many early settlers who came to Captiva in the late
19th century to homestead and farm.

Captiva Cruises
You can find Captiva Cruises located just inside the gates of
South Seas Resort. They have a fleet of vessels with four main
types of cruises to choose from. There is the 90 minute Dolphin
Watch & Wildlife Cruise, the one hour Sunset Serenade Cruise,
a three hour Beach and Shelling Cruise and an Outer Island Cruise
which takes you to four exciting destinations.

Here is a 330 acre tropical haven. South Seas offers activities
that include tennis, kids camp, beach stroll, kayaking, personal
motor-craft, parasailing, the possibilities are endless. Now is
the time to enjoy!

Dining Out
You can enjoy fine dining without leaving the island. The Mucky
Duck is a beachfront restaurant that has indoor/outdoor seating, a
pub, and all with a British air about it. The Village Cafe is a
wonderful restaurant with gourmet food, The Green Flash is famous
for its views and you can't go wrong with the famous Bubble Room
restaurant complete with mile high desserts!
